What is Microblading?

Manual microblading is a process that involves tiny, fine-point needles (instead of a tattoo gun) that make up a small disposable blade used to scratch and deposit pigment simultaneously under your skin. Microblading is a technique of permanent makeup that is designed to mimic natural hair strokes in the eyebrows. This method is ideal for any client looking to improve their existing brows. Microblading is best for normal to dry skin and not ideal for oily skin types.

Powder Brows

(also known as shading, ombre brows, or micropigmentation)

What are Powder Brows?
This technique deposits colored pigment into the dermis (the second layer of the skin) with a state of the art digital device that regulates pigment placement, depth, and speed. The results are longer lasting than microblading which uses a set of needles lined together to penetrate pigment into the epidermis (the top, protective layer of the skin). There is less trauma to the skin during shading than there is during microblading.

How does the process work?

I shape and outline your eyebrows to the desired shape and thickness you want to achieve. Once we perfect and finalize your eyebrows to your satisfaction, I use either a manual hand held tool (for microblading) or a digital device (for powder brows). You will then come back in 6-8 weeks for a touch up to evaluate healed work, make adjustments, and finalize the shape and color. The second appointment is mainly to go over any areas that didnt hold the pigment as well or if you want to make any adjustments to the shape or size of your eyebrows.

How long does Microblading last?

Depending on your skin, age, lifestyle, and aftercare, the results can “last” anywhere from 6 months up to 3 years. Semi-permanent cosmetics will fade naturally over time. Annual touch ups are advised to maintain pigment color.

Who is Microblading good for?

Microblading is best for normal to dry skin types. It is great for anyone with those skin types trying to enhance their brows, whether you have full brows already and want to perfect the shape, or you have super light brows and need some color and density, or you are completely lacking brow hairs due to hair loss, medical conditions, etc. It is truly great for anyone who just wants to simplify their brow routine!

  • Using medication for Thyroid conditions / Graves’ disease (medications can cause pigments not to retain properly)
  • Note: Smoking will cause pigment to fade prematurely and anesthetics will not last as long.

Do I have to get two sessions?

Yes, it is required. Not everyones skin will retain pigment as well as others. The second part of this procedure is to perfect and reinforce pigment that didnt hold as well, as well as make any color or shape adjustments. Some clients may only need a minor touch up but we will not know until you are fully through the healing process of your initial session.

Does it hurt?

Everyones pain tolerance varies. Some clients experience no pain at all and some clients experience an annoyance,” but nothing severe at all. Numbing cream is applied during the procedure to keep you comfortable.

Is it safe?

Yes, I provide the best sterilized, disposable needles, and supplies.

Will I be swollen?

It is rare to experience swelling but you may have some redness around your eyebrows that will go down after a couple of hours.

Will I look crazy right after? Should I take the day off of work?

No, you will leave with natural looking eyebrows. The next day the color will intensify and get a bit darker. This happens when your skin is in the healing process but it will not stay that dark. It will fade 10-30% after it is healed.

How long is the procedure?

3-4 hours. Please allow enough time so you are in no rush on the day of your appointment. The first hour is for creating a perfect outline and shape for your eyebrows, and the remaining time is used for the actual procedure of permanent makeup.

How long is the healing process?

The active healing process is 10-14 days, but it takes 28 days for skin to completely heal. That is when you will be able to really judge your brows before coming in for your second session.

What is the maintenance like? When will I need to come in for an annual visit?

Usually clients that are oily will come in 6-9 months after to keep their eyebrows fresh. Oily skin has a tendency to fade somewhat faster than dry skin would. Dryer skin can typically get away with coming in around 9-12 months after. It truly depends on the clients skin retention as time goes on. I recommend stopping in sometime around 6 months after so I can check them out myself, or sending us a picture or video so we can take a look and suggest when to come back in. We will only do a touch up if your brows are truly fading and a touch up is necessary so we can protect the integrity of your skin.

What is the “Ghosting Stage?”

Please understand that your new brows are an open wound. For the first few days it will be darker and thicker than your healed results which take 28 days. Some clients experience flaking and scabbing during the first two weeks. Once this phase is completed it is common to experience what is called the ghosting stage. This is a period of time where the permanent makeup will seem to have disappeared. In most cases, it will reappear within a few days as the skin heals itself. After 30 days it is normal and common to have some spots where the pigment doesn’t retain well. At this point we will do your touch up to reinforce pigment. Please remember that permanent makeup is a two step process!
