1️⃣Disregard Hygiene- Keeping a clean and sanitized kit is the only way to do makeup! You will NEVER see me reuse a brush sponge or applicator on numerous clients. Everything is either disposable and thrown out immediately, one time use like a sponge that is then gifted to the client, or sanitized between clients such as brushes and spatulas.

2️⃣Assume the client loves it- you will never hear the words “do you like it” come out of my mouth. Instead before I hand them the mirror I give a quick 10 second speech of “okay I’m going to hand you the mirror, if there is anything at all that you want to change or adjust please do not hesitate to tell me, you will never offend me, and your the one wearing the makeup all day not me!” And this always opens up a conversation where a client can be honest about any adjustments they may or may not have.

3️⃣Rush- I will always give my clients the proper time the look takes. Of course things happen in the day causing set backs and time crunches sometimes, but they will never feel rushed. If a client asks for something more intricate that time doesn’t allow for, I explain that and we come up with something that time allows for that they will be happy with.

4️⃣Book a bride or client without a signed contract and paid deposit- I will always protect my business and my artists that work under me from any future issues by requiring deposits and signed contracts. This ensures SO many things (too many to list) and avoids any and all issues. One thing I’m proud of is my contract! It is strategic and firm and leaves no confusion for my brides.

5️⃣Talk poorly about another MUA- there is way too much business to go around to stoop to this level. Bad mouthing someone only makes you look jealous and unprofessional. When you speak highly of other artists in the industry, you actually give the client a really good impression of someone who is positive, professional, and easy to work with. Plus you never know when you may need help from other artists! Keep a good reputation!
